The Quest for a Human Signature

The Quest for a Human Signature

I’ve been on a long journey to find an editing style that I can truly call my own. It’s a process of trial and error, and sometimes the feedback is blunt. I was recently told a piece of my work looked “like a tin can.” While that stung, it triggered a realization: my work was leaning into a digital perfection that felt cold.

The AI Mirror
My biggest fear lately isn’t just a “metallic” look—it’s the proximity to AI. The leap in generative technology over the last few months has been staggering. When “perfect” images can be generated in seconds, the value of a photograph starts to shift. If a photo looks too flawless, it loses its soul and gets mistaken for a prompt.

Moving Forward
My ambition has shifted. I’m no longer chasing the cleanest export; I’m chasing a style that is significantly, stubbornly mine. I want to embrace the textures and “imperfections” that AI still struggles to replicate authentically. This current phase of my work is just a transition—a way to learn the tools before I eventually break them to find my own voice.
