Two to three times a week, my dog and I head out for our routine stroll at Brösarp Station. Beyond being a great place for a walk, this spot is the historic home of Skånska Järnvägar (The Scanian Railways)—a mega-ambitious heritage railway. Every summer, their vintage steam trains chug through the breathtaking, rolling landscapes between Brösarp and Vitaby, offering a literal window into the past.
For photographers, the station grounds are a virtual treasure trove of motifs.
There is an abundance of textured rust, weathered wood, and a distinct, poetic beauty in the ravage of time. It is a place where history is actively preserved, yet gently yielding to the elements. If you are ever in the area, it comes highly recommended.
Finding Mystique in Monochrome
Lately, I have been working a lot with vibrant, colorful images, but this particular shot demanded a different approach. Because the scene itself was nearly devoid of natural color, stripping away the remaining hues felt right. Going with black and white allowed the textures to pop and injected a sense of quiet mystique into the final picture.
