Finally, the iPhone 16 can be used with one hand. This feature is truly a game-changer for me. For years, I always carried a Ricoh GRIII or GRIIIx in my pocket, but now the iPhone 16 has become my go-to device for one-handed photography.
There are several use cases where a one-hand-operated pocket point-and-shoot device like the iPhone 16 really shines:
Quick Shots: Those moments where you only have 5-10 seconds to capture the shot. The convenience of a one-handed operation makes all the difference.
Rainy and Cold Shots: My system cameras are only “splash-proof” (whatever that means!). It’s reassuring to have the iPhone 16 on hand when it’s raining cats and dogs, without worrying about the weather.
Stealth Shots: Unlike a system camera, the iPhone blends seamlessly into everyday life. People are so accustomed to seeing iPhones that they hardly notice when you’re taking photos, allowing for more candid and natural shots.
I recently sold my GRIIIx, and I must say, it feels liberating to have one less camera to worry about. Fewer devices mean less gear to carry around and less software to learn and manage.
So, what’s my verdict on the iPhone 16? It’s a mixed bag. While it excels in many ways, I’ll save the detailed review for later once I’ve had more time to test its capabilities thoroughly.
Stay tuned for my in-depth thoughts soon!
