As I gear up for my exhibition in London this August, I’m out in the field daily, searching for the perfect images to embody the theme of “Cash Cows.” The concept revolves around cows’ symbolism—how they represent wealth, sustenance, and sometimes exploitation. With this in mind, I’ve been visiting some of my favorite local spots to find inspiration, and today’s adventure led me to Fyledalen.
Fyledalen is a breathtaking valley about 15 minutes south of where I live. It’s a hidden gem in southern Sweden, known for its rolling landscapes, diverse wildlife, and a stillness that almost demands to be photographed. With its blend of natural beauty and rich cultural history, Fyledalen feels like stepping back in time.
For this particular shot, I decided to take a different approach. I edited the picture with a slightly nostalgic touch, darkening the corners to give it an old-fashioned, almost vintage feel. Something about the black vignetting adds depth, nearly like peering into a forgotten memory.
Though the effect is subtle, it brings out the valley’s raw and rustic atmosphere, perfectly in tune with the Cash Cows theme. After all, cows are more than just livestock; they are an enduring symbol of our relationship with the land, our traditions, and even our economy.
Fyledalen’s timeless beauty makes it a perfect muse for my project, and I hope this picture captures the area’s essence.
