One of the key insights I’ve found as an art photographer is the importance of working on multiple themes simultaneously. Inspiration is unpredictable; you never know when or where you’ll stumble across the perfect subject. For instance, I spent two years photographing rust—a project filled with beautiful decay and textured patinas. But when I decided to set the theme aside, I unexpectedly discovered a “goldmine” of rusted treasures. What once seemed elusive has become an abundance of rich material, ripe for a future exhibition.
For my upcoming exhibition focusing on animals, I’m exploring each creature’s personality and unique character through headshots. My approach is straightforward: capture them head-on to reveal as much expression and individuality as possible. I’ve been photographing cows, cats, dogs, and even bees, creating an intimate and honest portrait series.
Looking ahead to next year, I’ll be diving into the world of smaller creatures—spiders, insects, and other tiny beings. The challenge of capturing their personalities will be new and exciting, pushing the limits of my technique and perspective. It will be an adventure; if all goes well, it will culminate in a captivating exhibition for 2046.
