Embracing the Morning: A Perfect Start in Kivik

Embracing the Morning: A Perfect Start in Kivik

Today, I rose early with a sense of purpose. The day began with a trip to Kivik, where I needed a blood sample. I arrived at the clinic, and by 08:10, I was already done. The early start left me precious time to explore the harbor’s beauty and savor a Swedish summer morning at its best.

As I wandered down to the waterfront, I was greeted by a scene that felt almost surreal. The air was crisp, and a gentle breeze danced across the water, causing small ripples in the soft morning light. The sky above was a brilliant blue, dotted with fluffy white clouds that seemed to float lazily as if taking their time to enjoy the day as much as I was.

Only a few people were out and about, some early risers like myself. The moment’s tranquility was palpable, and I found myself soaking in the serenity, knowing that these are the mornings you hold onto during the long, dark winter months. They remind you of the warmth and brightness that the summer sun can bring, even in the depths of the cold season.

I felt excited with my Leica M9 slung around my neck and the Summicron 40/2 lens attached. This camera has become an extension of my vision, allowing me to capture fleeting moments in stunning detail. I’ve always found joy in photography, but there’s something extraordinary about using this setup. Each click of the shutter is not just a snapshot but an opportunity to immortalize a feeling, a memory, a fleeting moment.

As I strolled along the harbor, I couldn’t resist the urge to photograph the charming boats bobbing in the water, their reflections creating a perfect canvas against the backdrop of the vibrant blue sky. I took my time, adjusting the aperture, playing with depth of field, and focusing on the details—the texture of the wooden boats, the play of light on the water, the soft colors of the morning.

Each shot reminded me of how much I enjoy this art form. It’s more than just capturing images; it’s about connecting with the world around me, seeing beauty in the mundane, and appreciating the simple joys of life. I resolved to take my camera out more often to seek out those moments worth remembering.

As the sun climbed higher, I knew it was time to wrap up my morning adventure. I took one last glance at the harbor, letting the scene imprint itself in my mind—a perfect Swedish summer morning, a quiet harbor, and the satisfying weight of my camera in hand. These are the moments that linger and sustain us through the seasons.

As I headed home, I carried with me not just the photos but also the warmth of the morning sun and the peace of a quiet harbor—a gentle reminder to cherish the simple pleasures in life.
