Lately, I wanted to try out lenses with more character. I started to be bored of the ultra-sharp look and wanted to give more of an optical imperfection look. Leica has a lot of heritage lenses, so I bought myself the one with the most character.
The Thambar is a unique lens that produces a dreamlike and romantic effect in portraits. It is characterised by its soft, diffused bokeh, created by a combination of the lens’s optical design and the centre spot filter included with the lens. The centre spot filter helps reduce the sharpness in the image’s centre, creating a more atmospheric and painterly effect.
It’s a tricky beast to master! But I kind of like this picture.
