Håkan Dennersten
Håkan Early morning in Fyledalen

The love story between Håkan Dennersten and Österlen began in 2005, with an unplanned encounter that would reshape his life. He had set out to view a cottage “just to have a look,” with no intention to buy. Yet, when he arrived, he found himself captivated by the expansive, breathtaking view stretching out from the heart of a farm field in Månslunda, nestled near Lövestad and Kronovall. This serendipitous moment sparked an enduring connection to the area.

Over the years, this connection deepened, and in 2012, Håkan and his wife decided to leave behind their previous life and permanently move to the cottage in the middle of the field. Surrounded by Österlen’s iconic light, wild beauty, and serenity, Håkan found the tranquil rhythm of nature both inspiring and grounding. For him, dawn at Österlen is a uniquely tranquil time, a moment to witness the quiet magic of nature waking to a new day.

Håkan’s career in photography has spanned a wealth of experiences, having worked for prominent publications such as Dagens Nyheter, Veckorevyn, Slitz, Damernas Värld, and Berlingske Tidende. Throughout his career, he has captured portraits of some of the world’s most celebrated icons, including James Brown, Stevie Wonder, U2, David Bowie, and Anita Ekberg.

His international career took a significant leap forward in 2022 with the release of The Beauty in the Ravage of Time, a photographic book that reveals a raw, haunting beauty within the passage of time. The book, accompanied by an exhibition, was showcased in Manchester, Borlänge, and Österlen, marking a milestone in Håkan’s career.

In August 2024, Håkan Dennersten held a highly successful exhibition at the BSMT gallery in Hackney, London. The show drew a remarkable audience, with art enthusiasts captivated by Håkan’s thought-provoking themes and distinctive visual storytelling.

Centered around his project, Cash Cows, the exhibition explored contemporary societal values and the commodification of everyday life, resonating deeply with the audience. The exhibit also included selections from his acclaimed series The Beauty in the Ravage of Time, which reflects beauty found within decay and time’s impact on the world around us.

The exhibition marked a pivotal moment in Håkan’s career, affirming his reputation as an internationally recognized artist whose work challenges viewers to consider beauty, value, and time from new perspectives.
