This photo has received a lukewarm response from the Internet, but I love it. It has a dreamy, almost mystical quality that sparks my imagination—everything a great image should do.
I have a theory about why it hasn’t resonated widely: the photo simply doesn’t translate well on a phone screen. The subtle textures and ethereal mood are lost when viewed in such a small format. The details come alive on a larger screen or in print, and the atmosphere draws you in.
I captured this shot while walking along the beach promenade in Ystad, near the charming Ystad Saltsjöbad hotel. The location is inspiring, and I feel this image captures some of the magic I experienced there. For me, it’s more than just a photo—it’s a portal to that serene moment by the sea.
It was taken with my new love: Ricoh GRIIIx HDF.
